Discover Maldives

EXPLORE MALDIVES

For bright white sands, tropical turquoise waters and idyllic islands, the Maldives ticks all the boxes. Made up of over 1,000 islands spread across the Indian Ocean, there's nothing not to love about the picture-perfect Maldives. Thanks to its location, it's a brilliant year-round sun destination, with temperatures averaging the high 20s. Our favourite season to visit is December through to April, when the temperatures are warmest and the rainfall is minimal. There's more to the Maldives than its beautiful beaches, though. Whether it's discovering paradise atolls or paragliding over the ocean, there's plenty of adventure to be found.

Things to do

Water-sports

If you want to explore more of life under the sea there are plenty of water sports to choose from. Home to some of the world's best scuba diving and snorkelling areas, you are guaranteed to have a breath-taking diving adventure here and will hopefully be lucky enough to swim with the resident turtles and beautiful sea creatures. The list is endless when it comes to water sports, whether it's canoeing around the islands or experiencing the adrenaline rush on the back of a jet ski.

Experience the Maldivian culture

Head over to the bustling capital city of Malé where you can experience the real Maldivian culture with the locals. Watch them hand make handicrafts from local materials or visit the famous fish market and watch the locally caught fish being brought in from the harbour. We recommend trying the freshly caught tuna or octopus. If you get a chance, explore some of the local islands and watch cultural performances and local dances. One to look out for in particular is the 'Bodu Beru'.

Boat trips

Experience the marine life from one of the many boat trips. The whale submarine is the perfect trip if you've got the kids in tow - dive into the coral reefs and visit abandoned shipwrecks without getting wet. Dolphin watching is also a must in the Maldives. Home to over 20 different species, it is common to spot them swimming across the atolls. Hop on board a dhoni (local fishing boat) for a family day out fishing and seeing who can catch the best fish.
