Dubrovnik Riviera Holidays - Croatia
The Dubrovnik Riviera stretches along Croatia's southern tip, and lines up a mix of ancient sites, lively towns and pin-drop peaceful islands. The city of Dubrovnik is the jewel in its crown. Its UNESCO-listed Old Town is a maze of marble-paved streets and centuries-old buildings, all enclosed by chunky medieval walls.
Head along the coast and you'll reach quaint seaside towns and villages tucked away in the hills. Offshore, meanwhile, islands like Korcula, Kolocep and Lopud make fantastic daytrips, thanks to their pristine beaches and postcard-pretty harbours.
Things to do on the Dubrovnik Riviera
Stroll around Dubrovnik's Old Town
The walled Old Town of Dubrovnik is one of Europe's best-preserved medieval cities, and is filled with photo-worthy churches, palaces, monasteries and fountains. In July and August, the squares and courtyards transform into open-air stages for the Dubrovnik Summer Festival.
Walk around Dubrovnik's walls
The huge stone walls that loop around Dubrovnik's Old Town date back to the 14th century. They're thick enough that you can walk along the top, and are one of the best places to view the city's terracotta rooftops.
To the north-west of Dubrovnik is the island of Korcula. It was controlled by Venice between the 14th and 18th centuries, and you can still spot the Venetian influences in the harbourside old town. The island is also home to rolling hills and a sprinkling of pretty coves.
Take a daytrip to the Elaphite Islands
The peaceful, pine-carpeted Elaphite Islands are scattered in the Adriatic just off the Dubrovnik Riviera. Spend a day on one of the three inhabited islands - Kolocep, Lopud and Sipan - or hire a boat and get away from it all on one of the uninhabited specks.
