Luxury Kefalonia Holidays
Kefalonia - Captain Corelli's island - is the biggest isle in the Ionian chain. Pebbled beaches and sandy bays skirt its edges, while inland you'll find dramatic mountains, rolling countryside and underground lakes.
Up in the north is fashionable Fiskardo. With its sophisticated bars and restaurants and a yacht-filled harbour, it's Greece's answer to St Tropez. On the west coast is Lassi, a town that puts you in easy reach of the island's capital and a handful of sandy beaches. Scala, in the south, also has a beach worth mentioning - it's a long ribbon of sand and shingle.
Things to do in Kefalonia
Float across Melissani Lake
This underground lake is best explored using a small rowing boat, which can take you to its most secluded corners.
Photograph Myrtos Bay
You might recognise this chalk-white beach - it had a supporting role in Captain Corelli's Mandolin, and often pops up on the covers of travel magazines. It's reached via a steep cliffside road - make sure you stop at the top for a postcard panorama of the white pebbles and aquamarine sea.
Spend a day in Assos
Assos' cluster of colourful houses are set around a natural bay, where you'll find a tiny pebble beach and cafes with tables and chairs lined up by the water's edge. Standing high above the town is a castle - tackle the walk up and you'll be rewarded with fantastic views.

Right up the north of the island is the chic town of Fiskardo. It's where you'll find the Emelisse Art Hotel, which features stylish interiors and a sea-view infinity pool. The southern town of Scala is home to the family-run Villa Costa, an intimate boutique property with seven individually designed rooms.
