Meeru Island Resort & Spa

Just returned from seven nights at Meeru, I am suffering from the Meeru blues. What can I say from the moment stepping foot at Male airport we were looked after. We had to wait for an hour at the airport for ther speedboat. When we arrived there was a storm so that time passed quickly watching the rain. 50 minute speedboat journey and we arrived onto Meeru in a thunder storm and heavy rain but oh my word the island was so beautiful even in the rain. The wonderful welcome by staff were so lovely and the tears of joy were already rolling dow my face. The fantastic Pia welcomed us and gave us a quick guide of the island. We booked with TUI and Simonette our rep introduced herself and was very helpful. I booked a waterfront villa (500s) and over water villa for our stay (700s) for the last three nights. I wanted to expierence both villas. There was an amazing lightning storm the first night, watching it from bar drinking a glass of wine was a moment I will remember forever. The adult only buffet was amazing - the food was delicious, the staff working in there were so friendly. Every credit to each of them so polite, friendly, kind and I enjoyed talking to them getting to know what they are doing on their breaks. There was a staff football match which many told me about. We were so looked after. We ate at every a la carte restaurant - the food was exceptional. The sunset punch cruise seeing dolphins was another moment which brought tears to my eyes. Waterfront villa was very spacious, had shade in the afternoon, was very close to the adult pool and buffet. 8 minute very slow walk to main reception however there is a north reception which is helpful. The waterfront villa was everything I could have wanted no compliants at all. Amazing views of sunrise. Over water villa in the 700s - staff moved our luggage, it was a 15 minute wait for the key whilst our villa was checked, partner was slightly annoyed we could not get key straight away as there was plenty of notice that we were moving villas but I explained there are procedures and too be honest when in paradise what is 15 minutes! I paid the upgrade prior to arriving. What I would say is to give guests more notice of when the timings of the movement will happen, possibly the day before rather than late evening. The over water villa was amazing with everything you need, same as the water front villa - minibar, life vests, toiletries, huge bed. The bathroom is inside within the over water villa. It is outside but covered in the 500s. I enjoyed both. Please note the current around the 700s is very strong. The water, the island, the villas and the staff are all amazing. I met some lovely members of staff who did everything to make our holiday so special. I have recommended Meeru to friends and family and I will be returning. Travellers - You need to pack ALOT of sun lotion SPF50 and above, I went through 600ml of lotion, pack snorkelling gear, water shoes, aftersun, antihistamines and painkillers. This was our third Maldives trip and second to Meeru the last stay was in 2017. We were very impressed by the improvements that have made since our last visit, not just in the facilities but the packages on offer. We stayed in a Beach Jacuzzi Villa which was lovely. It had everything that you could wish for on an island vacation. The boom was serviced promptly at the same time every day which meant we could plan to be out of the way. The mini bar, included in the package was repleneshed daily and abundant fresh drinking water provided. We chose the all inclusive + package which whilst pricy was well worth it. The dine around options allow guests to book a meal at a number of the Al la carte restaurants, albeit with a limited set menu but the options were plentiful and very tasty. The service from all of the staff at all of the bars and restaurants including the pool was outstanding. Transport arrangements by boat were on time, well organized and very comfortable for the short trip from the airport. Overall a great break in an idyllic setting

The greatest place on earth - just paradise. I’ve been many times here but this time in late April, during low season, it was different because we almost had the island exclusively for us. I never experienced this kind of friendliness and kindness in another place on earth. The food was excellent end Marco, Janaka and the whole kitchen staff were able to satisfy all wishes even of my little daughter. Thank you for everything we really loved every minute in Meeru ❤️ Meeru ist ein Traum.
