The beautiful Quinta Jardins do Lago lies on one of the hills surrounding the city of Funchal. Dating back to the 18th century, the house was originally a charming Madeiran family home, more recently it was the home of renowned British families, and during the Napoleonic wars it was the residence of General Beresford, the Commander of the British forces.
The main house has been refurbished to offer the best in modern functionality combined with tradition, style and comfort. The charming rooms all face south over the lush gardens. These unique gardens are full of rare species of trees and are also home to a giant tortoise 'Colombo' from the Galapagos who has been living at the Quinta for the last 50 years.
