SOVEREIGN GREEN DAY
On Friday 17th July, we launched our very own 'BE Green' Day. To encourage our colleagues to recycle even more, we removed all general waste bins (bar one!) from each floor in the office. Every floor has recycling bins for paper, cans and plastic, and in our canteen we can recycle the paper coffee/tea cups.
We raised just under £200 for the Woodland Trust (www.woodlandtrust.org.uk), the UK's leading woodland conservation charity that day through donations. The dress code was 'Green' (naturally!).
Our PC screens now have a new wallpaper with a Think before you print! message to remind us to keep printing down to a minimum.
We also started to feature 'Green' facts on our internal TV screens – Did you know that in the past 5 minutes another 59 hectares of rainforest was destroyed - that's equal to 2,261 Wimbledon tennis courts!
BE GREEN PHOTO COMPETITION
We also launched our in-house travel photography competition to raise awareness of the dangers our beautiful planet faces as a result of Climate Change.
The winning photographs will be mounted and framed on A0 boards, and displayed throughout the office.
We are also delighted that Mark Edwards will be judging this competition along with our Managing Director! Mark is one of the most widely published editorial photographers in the world and he presented his Hard Rain Project at the TUI Travel PLC unifying conference in Paris, 2007. He founded Still Pictures, regarded as the leading photo agency specialising in environmental issues, the Third World and nature. He is also the co-author of Changing Consciousness, with David Bohm.

HARD RAIN PROJECT
is a new venture springing from ark edwards' Still Pictures photo agency.
"July, 1969. Mark Edwards, lost on the edge of the Sahara, is rescued by a Tuareg nomad, who takes him to his people, makes a fire and produces a cassette player. Bob Dylan sings "A Hard Rain's A-Gonna Fall". As Dylan piles image upon image, the idea comes to Edwards of illustrating each line of the song. In the years that follow, he travels to over 150 countries to photograph our headlong collision with nature. Hard Rain is the result — an unforgettable collection of photographs illustrating Dylan's prophetic lyric."

SOVEREIGN 2010 BROCHURE LAUNCH
On Tuesday 25th August we launched our NEW 2010 Brochure. All internal communications were via email or the TV screens – not one scrap of paper was used!
