Jane McDonald in Tenerife

Episode 1 sees Jane McDonald start her adventure in the sunny Spanish island of Tenerife. Home to Mount Teide, the third largest volcano in the world, Tenerife offers a wealth of opportunities whether you’re travelling as a family, a multigenerational group, or as a couple. Jane embarks on a Mount Teide cable car ride and enjoys impressive views across the island before indulging in local Canarian cuisine at a traditional restaurant. Be sure to try the Canarian potatoes on your holiday - they are delicious!

Jane also pays a visit to a banana plantation where she enjoys banana jam and banana wine. Here she learns about how the bananas are grown and the agricultural value of southern Tenerife.

The next day, Jane takes the short ferry ride to the beautiful hidden island of La Gomera to learn how to make baskets from the locally grown palm leaves. La Gomera holidays bring you the quieter side of the Canary Islands and invite you to enjoy unspoilt beauty and traditional villages. Here, Jane also tries Silbo, the traditional method of communicating via whistling, used by shepherds to speak across mountain ranges in the past.
