New Delhi was built by the Victorian British colonial regime and is home to stunning Mughal architecture and wonderful sightseeing. Make your way through the thriving streets before reaching your first stop, Humanyu’s Tomb. Landscaped gardens full of fountains and plants lead you up to this rose coloured mausoleum, which is the earliest example of Mughal architecture in the country.

Next drive past Rajpath, which is a wide street leading into New Delhi and often the site of celebrations. At the eastern end is the national war memorial, India Gate, with the Rashtrapati Bhawan opposite. This is the official residence of India’s President and is a magnificent, imposing building.

Old Delhi is a 300 year old walled city where you can hop aboard a rickshaw and find yourself sliding through the bustling lanes of the Chandini Chowk Market. Pick up spices, fruit and jewellery or marvel at the homemade items sold by apothecaries and roadside dentists exhibiting their equipment and false teeth. Next visit the largest mosque in the city, Jama Masjid, which was completed in 1658 and displays intricate red and white marble strips. Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, a Seikh temple, is next on your list. Watch as the members perform “sevak” (services to the community) by creating traditional meals for the city’s impoverished most lunchtimes.

Day 3 : Drive to Agra
You'll be taken from Delhi to Agra, which will take around 3-4 hours.

Enjoy the luxury facilities at your hotel or take in the beautiful city of Agra and its narrow streets and iconic monuments.

Places you will visit during your India tour

Dehli
A city containing two cities, Delhi is India’s thriving capital. Old Delhi is a walled city which dates back to the 17th Century. Monuments reflect its Muslim past while modern touches reflect the religious diversity of the country. New Delhi was created by British Victorian colonials and reflects the interesting combination of European and Indian architecture, culture, flavours and more.

In Delhi you’ll find days worth of sightseeing and historic attractions, as well as a modern culture just waiting to be discovered. Visit temples and palaces which reflect the unique and diverse makeup of India or spend your days exploring markets where you can pick up local handicrafts, spices and exotic foods.
Agra
Found along the banks of the Yamuna River, Agra was founded in 1504. It’s the ideal place to see the differences in architecture created by different regimes, religions and emperors who each tried to surpass the last. Arguably, the Taj Mahal is the finest. One of the seven wonders of the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, this white marble mausoleum is often said to be the world’s greatest legacy to love.

Agra Fort, which dates back to the 16th Century, is another must on your Golden Triangle tour of India. This red sandstone fortress is home to palaces, mosques and tranquil courtyards. If you enjoy bird watching and exploring native flora Agra is full of wonderful parks which are waiting to be discovered.
Jaipur
Known as the “Pink City” Jaipur offers spectacular architecture and completes India’s Golden Triangle. It dates back to the 18th Century and is an excellent example of modern city planning in India. Forts and palaces are peppered throughout the city, mingling with lively markets and busy streets.

Wander through these bustling streets before ducking into temples and palaces which provide a tranquil oasis away from the riot of noise and colour. The royal observatory, Jantar Mantar, offers an insight into the astrology of days gone by, as well as fascinating instruments. Another must is Agra Fort, which is situated up in the hills and offers fantastic views, as well as its own beautiful architecture.

Goa

A laid back and sleep area situated along India’s west coast Goa is a former Portuguese colony, which is reflected in its architecture, culture and cuisine. Spend your days soaking up the warm Indian sunshine on the sandy coastline of the Indian Ocean or explore the surrounding wildlife sanctuaries and national parks. This is the perfect place to relax after a week of sightseeing and exploring.

If you prefer to explore, the architecture of the area is unique and fascinating, with temples, pretty churches and spectacular cathedrals all dotted around the towns. Head into the surrounding rainforests for the chance to see monkeys and crocodiles as you slide along the river between the mangroves. Alternatively, take in spectacular waterfalls or visit chic bars and restaurants and make the most of this unique culture.
