Once you arrive in Thailand, jump in to your private hotel transfer. The hotels in Bangkok are city slickers with high-end restaurants and polished pool terraces. They also make great bases for exploring the city.
Although Bangkok is a supersized place, its most-visited sights stick to one bend of the Chao Phraya River. Head here, and you’ll see that Buddhist temples Wat Arun and Wat Phra Kaew are just as grand as the monumental Grand Palace. You’ll also find Museum Siam, Bangkok National Museum and the offbeat National Museum of Royal Barges.
A private transfer takes you back to the airport today.
From there, you’ll fly south to one of the largest islands in Thailand – Koh Samui.
Most hotels sit either right on the beach or just above, on the rainforest-clad hillside.
You’ll spend most of your holiday in Koh Samui. It’s a veritable tropical postcard complete with silvery sand beaches and swaying palms. The north-east is the liveliest spot, featuring everything from art museums to golden Buddhist temples. Head into the hilly interior to get up close and personal with waterfalls and adventure zip lines.
There’ll be plenty of time for a boat trip, too. Koh Samui is surrounded by tiny islands like Koh Taen that offer castaway beaches and first-class snorkelling waters.
On day 11, stock up on a tropical breakfast before your private transfer takes you to the airport for your flight home (usually via Bangkok).
