Places you will explore during your Safari holiday

Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe
The main attraction of Victoria Falls is the powerful water of the Zambezi River, with a fascinating heritage taking you back to the times of Victorian explorers. Livingstone is said to have found these inspirational Falls when he named them after Britain’s reigning Queen, Victoria, writing ‘sights such as these must have been gazed upon by angels in their flight’. Take a walking tour to see the Falls and find yourself awed by the sight. Later in the day, a sunset cruise will take you along the serene waters of the Upper Zambezi River, with its many diverting channels and little islands.

There is also time to enjoy activities and adventures in the area. Cross the border into neighbouring Zambia and visit Livingstone Island, where you can stand on the spot where he first saw the Falls. Take a dip in Devil’s Pool, which allows you to swim as you overlook the magnificent Falls. Standing at over 100 metres tall, this huge mass of waters is the largest waterfall in the world, and the surrounding area is home to fascinating wildlife and landscapes. Try sedate activities such as riding the steam train or a birds’ eye view of the falls from a helicopter, or something daring like a bungee jump.
Chobe National Park, Botswana
Within easy driving distance of the spectacular Victoria Falls is the small town of Kasane. This little safari town is the gateway to Chobe National Park from where you can see some of Botswana’s most incredible species of wildlife. Attracting a huge population of elephants, this area has some of the largest herds in Africa, as well as plenty of plains game such as antelope, lion and buffalo which may also be spotted on your morning game drives and afternoon boat trips. Make sure you watch out for hippos and crocodiles in the water.

Boat trips are ideal for bird enthusiasts, with some exotic varieties to be spotted. Tiger fish fishing is also an option for those who might like to try this challenging sport.
Greater Kruger, South Africa
One of the most famous game viewing areas in the world, the legendary Greater Kruger area is ideal for first time safari goers. Stretching out across 20,000km it’s larger than a small country. Animal lovers and avid bird watchers can enjoy sightings of some of Africa’s most exciting game, including lions, leopards, buffalo, weaver birds and kingfishers.

Journey through the landscape in an open top 4x4 with experienced guides to point out the animals, plants and birds along the way. You can also enjoy bush walks which will take you closer to the smaller details of the National Park as you learn about the insects, birds and smaller mammals who contribute to the area’s diverse ecosystem.
Cape Town, South Africa
With the Atlantic Ocean on one side and one of the world’s oldest, and most famous, mountains on the other a trip to Cape Town is full of unforgettable experiences. Wander through the bustling streets of the city and explore its cosmopolitan culture before enjoying some of the more rural surrounding landscapes.

Take in colourful houses, stylish architecture and world class restaurants, or make the most of the many outdoor activities and stunning landscapes. Hike, swim or surf, or visit museums, beaches, galleries, bars and restaurants. Whatever you want to do this incredible city is the perfect location to end your adventure into the wilderness of southern Africa.
Franschhoek, South Africa
Neat rows of emerald grapevines greet you from the winding roads of the mountains above as you descend into this beautiful valley and its town of Franschhoek. Founded by French settlers hundreds of years ago the architecture of the town retains a quaint colonial feel. The town prides itself on world famous wines, as well as gourmet dishes which combine the freshest South African ingredients with its fascinating international influence.

Spend your day hopping between different wineries, finding your favourite among the established businesses and new vineyards. Wander along the wide, sunny main street stopping off in chic street side cafés or gourmet restaurants where you can enjoy tasting menus as well as fine dining.
