Chobe Chilwero is part of the Sanctuary group of properties. We have stayed at 3 and they have been uniformly well managed and enjoyable. This is the most "posh" of the lodges. Helpful, attentive staff. The lodge is known for it's food which was exceptional, interesting & delicious dishes, elegantly presented, and locally sourced. We're foodies and we were impressed. The lodge itself is done in Spanish Colonial style (substitute thatch for tile on the roof and you could be in California or on the Costa del Sol. The individual detached rooms were very comfortable and tastefully decorated and appointed. And you get mongooses, warthogs, impala, and monkeys in the front yard as a bonus. Great view of the river from the terrace.
We had excellent game viewing. Our guide, Cavin, knew where to find the animals. We saw many lions with cubs, elephants, buffalo, hippos, impala, mostly at close distances which is the hallmark of the southern Africa (as opposed to East Africa) experience. The games viewing from a boat on the river is a "must-do" if you come here.
We'd go back without hesitation.

The Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero overlooks the Chobe river where you can see elephants, water buffalo, hippos and many other animals throughout the day. As to be expected with a Sanctuary property, the service is impeccable. All staff are exceptionally trained and meet your every need. Food was amazing and our guide was incredibly informative. The options of having a morning game drive and a sunset river cruise meant you were seeing different animals in different environments everyday. Will definitely be returning to Sanctuary properties on our next visit to Africa.
