About the location
Set on the fringes of capital Mykonos Town, Agios Ioannis is a tiny village with a big reputation. It has traditional seaside charm in buckets, but don't be fooled – its beach has superstar good looks (once starring in 1989 rom-com, Shirley Valentine).

The beach strikes an appealing balance between feeling low-key and well organised. The white sands rarely feel crowded, and the waters are glass-clear and set for snorkelling. There's still a good choice of tavernas and beach bars for seafood lunches, though, with some good watersports to hand as well. Inland, there's a classically Greek feel to the village – think white-dusted houses with Juliet balconies spilling over with pink flowers.

Hop in a cab or hire a car to meet Mykonos Town, the vibrant island capital that's just a 10-minute drive away.
