Dev Vilas is a fantastic venue to stay at while being on a Tiger Safari at Ranthambore. It is located less than 500 meters from the gate which saves time and energy while allowing you more time to track and enjoy the abundant wildlife.
I have done numerous safaris in Asia and Africa and staying at Dev Vilas was memorable because of the quaint property and friendly attentive staff. The room I stayed in was clean, well furnished and actually bigger than expected - with a living room and two toilets.
The food was exceptional with Indian and International cuisine. But what made this trip most memorable - even beyond seeing Tigers and Bears - was meeting and spending time with the owner of Dev Vilas - Mr. Balendu Singh.
Balendu, a world class Clay Pigeon competitive shooter - and a wealth of knowledge on Ranthambore Park and its wildlife. He is one of those unique people that make a better human being by just being around him.
He personally took the time to go on game drives with me and taught me more about wildlife and photography than I would have learnt otherwise on a dozen safaris.
The evenings at Dev Vilas are amazing. A unique collection of accomplished guests come and commingle around Balendu - enjoying his graciousness and passion for wildlife and the rich history of India.
All in all a fantastic trip - and I can???t wait to return to Dev Vilas and hopefully go on many more game drives with Mr. Balendu Singh. I can???t thank you enough!

This is definitely one of the more unique hotels we've stayed in. The rooms are decorated in the theme Ranthambore National Park. The hotel is located down the street from the Park which makes it an ideal location. The rooms are spacious but old. They have interesting fixtures in the bathroom. We had a room that had two toilets and a shower and a tub. We never quite got hot water but it worked. I felt like we were staying at an animal preserve. The grounds are gorgeous and exquisite in their decor with a very serene feel. There is a pool and a dining room with certain hours. I found the food very limiting but you aren't here for the food. We were not very adventurous with the food as Indian food was not our favorite but that was just personal. When you come back from the game drives in the park, they provide you with water and clean wet towels to wipe off. They give you blankets to cover up with when you go early in the morning so they cater to your experience on the Game Drive. The staff is very accommodating. You can't beat a hotel that is close and inviting as this.
