  • A luxury private island eco-retreat just 30 minutes from Mahé
  • A dream destination island with 23 luxury chalets
  • A refined culinary experience with ingredients coming from the on-site farm
  • Kaleidoscopic marine life, ideal for snorkellers and divers

Melt into luxury as you have never known it on Denis Private Island. This remote and remarkable island in the Seychelles is your gateway to an extraordinary holiday. Combining the exotic beauty that the Seychelles are famous for - warm, topaz waters, white sand beaches and abundant flora and fauna, Denis Private Island is a rare jewel in a sea of perfection.

The completely private coral isle is just 30-minutes from the main island of Mahé, making it an easy destination to get to. At 375-acres, Denis Island accommodates 23 private bungalow chalets (of varying sizes) which can be reserved in their entirety, making it an ideal escape for destination weddings and family holidays. The restaurant offers gorgeous gourmet dining with five-course menus, theme nights and live cooking extravaganzas, while the bar is the perfect setting for perhaps the most beautiful rum cocktail we’ve ever had! What’s more, the resort prides itself on its very low carbon footprint -  there is a farm on the island for fruit, vegetables, milk and poultry, while seafood comes from the surrounding seas.

The tropical hideaway is the epitome of understated elegance. Luxury holidays in the Seychelles simply don’t get any better than this.

Facilities

Bars & Restaurants

Dining on Denis Island is a tantalising mix of freshly prepared buffets, live cooking stations and themed evenings serving Creole and Japanese dishes. The resort is unique in the archipelago in that its onsite organic farm produces almost all the ingredients used in the restaurant. Some of the tastiest food in the Seychelles!

Beach & Pools

Although there are no swimming pools (yet) on Denis, you are never far from the glorious Indian Ocean lapping at your feet. Turtle sightings are common year-round on the island, so grab your snorkel and mask and dive into the lovely warm waters.

Spa & Wellness

The resort offers traditional spa services despite there being no spa per se. Rather, trained therapists come to your cottage so that you can relax in the comfort of your own surroundings. For those who want a deep wellness break, opt for the  Beachfront Spa Cottage, with its very own spa pavilion in the courtyard.

About the location

There are few places on the planet as perfect as Denis Private Island. Surrounded by nature and the spellbinding waters of the Indian Ocean, this is as close to living on our own desert island as most of us will ever get. Denis is the second most northerly island in the Seychelles (after Bird Island), but despite the fact that it is just 80 km (and a 30-minute flight) from Mahé it feels like a million miles from anywhere.

The resort is focused on sustainability, and visitors are immersed in the island’s commitment to the cause as soon as they arrive. Electricity is largely solar-powered, the on-site farm is unique in the archipelago and guests are encouraged to take nature tours of the island to learn of the many conservation programmes and initiatives Denis has taken in order to preserve its pristine surroundings. The endemic wildlife here is stupendous - in fact, thanks to the environmental actions taken at the start of the project, many endangered species now call the island their home. As a result, Denis is the only place in the world in which a morning’s walk can bring you across the Seychelles fody, magpie robin, paradise flycatcher and the Seychelles warbler.

As if holidaying in paradise isn’t enough, the resort offers activities such as scuba diving, paddleboarding, sea kayaking and deep-sea fishing (catch and release). The ocean surrounding Denis is protected from fishing by the Seychelles’ government and because of this, the waters are teeming with colourful marine life. Go during turtle nesting season (May to September for Green Turtles and October to February for Hawksbill Turtles) for an extra special treat.

What our guests think

We've been finding people their own slice of paradise for 50 years, and like to think we're pretty good at it.
Don't just take our word for it, though - see what our customers have said about their Sovereign experience..
