About the location
One of Gran Canaria's original beach resorts, Maspalomas' golden good looks and tranquillity has kept it top of the list for sunseekers. With its protected natural reserve and terracotta sand dunes straight out of the Sahara, the resort moves at more of a laid-back pace than the likes of neighbouring Playa del Inglés. There's a Blue Flag beach with fine, golden sand and palm trees, and a seafront promenade boasting the best entertainment picks - think local dining, popular bars and plenty of good shopping. Families can head to Holiday World for some fairground action, or visit the ever-popular Aqualand Maspalomas - Gran Canaria's biggest water park, and home to a generous helping of slides and flumes.  For parents, the 18-hole Maspalomas Golf Course is a real gem, featuring greens that come complete with views across the beach and rolling dunes.
