About the location
The honey-coloured hilltop town of Deia is often hailed as the jewel in Majorca’s crown. This ancient little town is tucked in the foothills of the Tramuntana Mountains, gazing out over the coast in the thick of fragrant olive groves. A popular springboard for exploring the region’s lush scenery (the hiking trails are fantastic), Deia also has a bohemian side. Since British poet Robert Graves fell in love with the place back in the 1930s, the town has become something of an artists' colony, which has helped to preserve its relaxed, traditional feel. You’ll find arty types and even the odd celebrity mingling in its handful of pavement cafes and restaurants, perfectly set up for people-watching and poetry writing.
