This was our 7th year back to Creta Palace with our four kids and considering the difficult environment due to Covid, it proved, surprisingly, to be one of our most memorable stays. The hotel has undertaken enormous measures to ensure sanitary safety; guests had to wear masks indoors (not required once seated at the restaurant), staff were permanently wearing masks, hand sanitiser was available everywhere, the buffet at the main restaurant was as enjoyable as ever and served by waiters behind plexiglass (ensuring no exposure to viral transmission),same beach umbrellas were allocated for the entire stay, towels on the beach and pool area were provided in vacuum packed plastic covers. Had we known that such tremendous and meticulous measures were taken, my parents would not have cancelled their trip.
The weather in October this year was glorious and particularly hot for the season with the sea water being warmer than usual. We stayed in a palace suite bungalow which accommodates 2 adults and 4 children and had a lovely view on the sea.
Interactive activities were suspended, such as the rock climbing and beach volleyball but the lovely weather, excellent food and service more than compensated for that (which in any case was totally understandable).
Two other families joined us upon our recommendation and they were both enchanted with their stay. The beach service was excellent with Maria and Penelopi whisking up drinks and snacks tirelessly throughout the day. Our daughter enjoyed, as always, the wonderful atelier on the beach with Diana, where one can paint pottery, scarves, t-shirts etc.Don't miss the two shops at the hotel which have a surprisingly lovely little collection of sports and leisurewear and very affordable prices. Every year we pick up some nice things there.
Although the hotel is truly a totally relaxing and enjoyable environment, I do highly recommend hiring a car and visiting Rethymnon, Chania, the Arkadi monastery, Knossos Palace and the museum in Heraklion. Crete has a vast wealth of archaeology depicting the Minoan civilisation which should not be missed. As for Creta Palace, it is a gem of a hotel where its people really bring meaning to the word hospitality....we are already planning our return next year!

Needs some TLC, well the bedroom we were put in.
The rooms are small, the curtains had lots of small holes in them, so lots of sun coming through, i found it difficult to sleep. There were 2 single beds put together not a king size bed. Old fashioned hairdryer, it had a hose,
Overall the hotel was lovely and right on the beach.
Breakfast was good.

We stayed at the Creta Palace for 2 weeks and had an amazing holiday! It was everything we wanted it to be and more. The hotel itself is very clean and smart with a nice pool area and views of the sea. The beach is lovely with plenty of sunbeds. The sea can get a bit rough but usually it is fine for swimming in although you might need some beach shoes to get over the stones at the waters edge.
The food in this hotel is excellent. We were on half board so ate in the buffet restaurant most nights and we really enjoyed the food. It was top quality and always varied. The seating area is lovely/ outdoors with lots of trees and pretty lights. Unfortunately no sea view but if you eat at the a la carte restaurant you can see the sea!
We had a fabulous room - had everything we needed. Very comfy bed & modern bathroom. Best thing was the sunset from our balcony every night / just beautiful!
Covid restrictions were in place which made us feel very safe but did not at any time spoil our enjoyment of the hotel. The staff did an amazing job in very difficult circumstances.
Some bars and other facilities were closed due to Covid so I???m sure it would be an even better experience in normal times!
We will definitely be going to this hotel again - hopefully soon!

Junior suite on top floor. Very roomy and with excellent views over the beach and pool area. We were half board but instead of eating in the main restaurant we ate in the two a la carte restaurants most evenings as they were superb with great food. The best thing about the Creta Palace is the staff. Everyone was without exception very efficient, friendly and could not do enough for you. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel

We just came back from Creta Palace, stayed there for 12 days with 2 little kids. What can I say...the best hotel I have been to! Rooms, beach, restaurants (!!!), but most importantly wonderful warm and welcoming people working there! I must especially mention Janis and his team at Brasserie where we had lunch every day - wonderful caring people. And also the main restaurant team - the food is excellent, deserts...mmmm! I gained some weight:))
Just a few things to mention:
1. the sea is very open (no bay) so any wind - expect high waves and red flag. There are also stones when you enter the sea so there were days when we could not swim at all. Swimming in the sea with kids is almost never possible because of the rough waters. But this has nothing to do with the hotel
2. Some people are (like everywhere) not that nice. One quite formal and not smiling at all lady at reception. One guy at a coffee house was rude once. But that incident was compensated (even too much) by the hotel as soon as we mentioned it
3. Main bar in the evening - the service was always very slow. To the point that snacks/fruits for the drinks arrived after we actually finished the drinks. One time would be ???it happens??? but 3 evenings in a row - that tells me a story.
4. Rooms are a bit outdated. It didn???t bother us and gives some atmosphere/vibe but broken lights, old bathroom tiles and creaking old wardrobe doors might be something to think about when planning further renovations
But like I said - these are small things. Overall and mainly we had a wonderful, wonderful holiday in a great relaxing place.
By the way, COVID measures are all quite strict and logical, personnel wears face masks all the time, guests are obliged to wear masks indoors, everything is very clean. I felt totally safe!
Definitely considering to come back!
