Text: Wow what a difference a week makes. We stayed here for one night the day we arrived in Mauritius to refresh before spending time with our family on the island. It was a smooth arrival room was ready early,given breakfast on arrival and a lovely clean and modern beach access room. We have had to extend our stay in Mauritius due to our son falling ill so thought we would come back based on the experience we had had and the close proximity to the airport. I had informed the hotel my son was ill and we arrived at the time of usual room check in. This time we booked the standard garden view room which still costs around £450 a night for half board. They said they had upgraded us and we were put in the end block of the beach rooms.The room wasn’t clean, the bathroom has orange stains all over the suite and the shower was mouldy and quite frankly disgusting. There were ear buds and rubbish at the front entrance of the room door .We were shown an alternative room after 5 hours of being messed about with two kids. The second room was shocking. Stains all over the curtains which looked like blood but apparently when inspected it was “only coffee” as if that made it ok…its a five star resort?, The most shocking was an old pull out bed for my son which was missing a headboard and had exposed metal bolts next to where my sons head was expected to sleep. I was so infuriated by this point we rang round to see if any alternative hotels were available. No offer of lunch or even a drink during the 6-7 hours it took to mess us around. No real manager on duty that had any form of leadership.The first manager we spoke to went off duty without sorting anything or handing over to the next manager Finally we were offered a suite as an applogy and got in at 8:30pm with one ill child and a tired 2 year old.The suite is much better and very spacious with a completely different feel to the grubby end block. The service from the simple areas such as room cleaning, guest services is seriously lacking. Our daughter has just been sick and it took over half an hour for anyone to bring towels. I have given up on going to reception for quicker responses as there is always another person needed to action anything. It took a day to get any replenishments of things like coffee pods after calls and visits to reception. Requests just seem to be ignored and thats an accepted standard here. Lotions and washes aren’t replenished when rooms are “cleaned”. floor’s definitely aren’t cleaned daily and you can wait until 6:30pm for your room to be cleaned But thats only after asking and prompting a response. The only reason I am giving any stars is purely for the amazing hospitality team that work so hard and always have smiles on their faces . The food has been lovely and the buffet restaurant is full of lovely happy staff.The lovely kids club team too who really care for the children staying in the hotel.The resort is tired and unkept in many places and I would never return,recommend or visit an Anantara hotel based on this poor experience. What was already a stressful time with a poorly child turned into a really unpleasant experience.

Good hospitality full of greenary around. Beautiful resort property with ocean. Very kind and polite staff also helped my mother on wheelchair especially Guru, Rekha, Deepraj, Ritesh, Tavish. Tour with half board breakfast and dinner. Tasty food. Very clean and positive vibes.
