Bustling harbours and turquoise waters
Argostoli is the lively capital of Kefalonia and the island’s main port town. With its bustling waterfront, cosmopolitan squares, and relaxed café culture, Argostoli is full of traditional Greek charm and hospitality. Along the harbourfront you’ll find tavernas and restaurants serving freshly caught seafood, while Lithostroto Street is lined with boutiques, shops, and shaded cafés that are perfect for people-watching.
Thanks to its ideal location, Argostoli is also the gateway to some of Kefalonia’s most memorable experiences. Boat trips depart regularly from the port, giving you the chance to explore secluded coves, swim in turquoise bays, or even take a day trip across the Ionian Sea to the neighbouring island of Zakynthos. For those who enjoy a slower pace, the town itself offers a wealth of history and culture, with museums, churches, and leafy squares to discover.
Argostoli is ideal for those who want to combine the energy of vibrant towns with the beauty of the Greek islands. By day you can explore its harbour, browse the markets, and unwind by the sea, and by night the town comes alive with waterfront dining and atmospheric bars. The combination of culture, coastline, and easy access to excursions makes it a wonderful choice for couples, friends, and families alike.
