Electra Palace

We flew into Rhodes airport super excited about enjoying 5 days of honeymoon bliss. We were met with no transfer as promised by the hotel. We rang them and they had failed to inform us that a link was needed but to grab our own transfer and they would reimburse. We got to the hotel and they did refund us the journey. We checked in to what we thought was a pool view suite, to be met with a garden view suit. No tv in the living space and a tv on the wall next to the bed, so ud have to be hanging out of the bed to view it at all. We went back to guest relations and told her this was not what we had booked for months for our honeymoon. We were reassured it was a mistake on there part and that our second and further nights would be spent in a pool view suite, which is what we booked months previous. Second day comes, we are back at customer relations and she said there was no pool view available but that they would compensate us with, spa experiences, honeymoon treatmemt, late check out and ???80 refund. We got none of the above bar the late check out. We spent the next 4 days of our honeymoon chasing customers relations. Finally the morning we were leaving ???80 was transfered back on our card. This was not even near making up for the mistakes and promises made by this hotel guest relations manager. This was meant to be a special, celebratory experience of starting a new life together and instead it was a sad ending to our honeymoon experience. Im so upset and saddened by such a spectacular looking hotel. It was super clean, food was exquisite but staff were less then helpful, had no communication and not a bit of compassion or understanding. They made many promises and came through on very little. I would NOT recommend this to anyone if you want a 5 star experience. I would rate it a 2 star.

This review will try to give a more in-depth opinion of the Electra Palace. A long read ??? but perhaps you will find it useful ??? On arrival my wife and I were checked in by Denia, the Guest Relations Agent, who warmly welcomed us and gave us endearing smiles as she bombarded us with a huge amount of useful information about the hotel, restaurant times, bars etc. We were very impressed with her consummate professionalism, therefore, a very good start. So now, down to the nitty gritty:- PROs: A refurbished (2023) modern and stylish hotel, the Electra Palace is favourably located close to the beach and facing the Aegean Sea across from the Turkish peninsular. The beach itself is stoney so it???s advisable to take beach shoes. It???s almost peaceful here, certainly when compared to other guest areas - but more of that later. We had a superior twin room with a pool view on the second floor. Nice enough room, clean and modern with reasonably good soundproofing - but not the best. No other real complaints with the room or the housekeeping. Going down to the lobby via the (very erratic operation of the) three lifts was a bit hit and miss, so we always took the stairs instead. The lifts issue must have been infuriating if your room was on the higher floors. In passing, we do have to mention that a small issue we had was quickly dealt with successfully by Christina at reception, very professional! Enough has already been said on here regarding the restaurants and fayre. We had very mixed opinions on the standard and quality of the food. Sometimes very good, sometimes not. Gluten-free options were available in very limited supply - but apparently were ???tasteless???. When will hotels and restaurants realise the importance of properly catering for this fast-growing requirement? In the main, restaurant staff were excellent apart from the usual couple of rude and arrogant ???bad apples. All the bar staff were excellent however, Dimos at the beach bar in particular - and those at the bar closest to the performance area next to the lobby. The cocktails, though, were not exciting, too sweet and probably pre-made. Not ???5-star??? standard, so we stuck to G & T???s (Gordon???s) and Metaxa favourites instead. The Gelato (Ice Cream) bar and Patisserie were very good with polite, friendly staff. So now ??? CONs: The following reflects conversations we had with (and overhearing) other guests, together with our own experiences during the seven days and nights of our holiday ....: Saturday, 18th October 2025: The evening music at the central pool bar: A sparkly dressed, screechy female ???singer??? (and I use the term very lightly), murdering, amongst other songs, Etta James 'At Last'. Appallingly bad, she made the average pub Karaoke lady singer sound like Barbara Streisand. ???Autotune??? would have at least been an absolute blessing here. She was followed by a rap artist screaming at an unbelievable and totally unacceptable volume. This type of 'entertainment', judging by the comments, does not cater for the hotel's age-range of guests, many of whom made a very hasty retreat away from it! Self-serving, distinctly amateur performers, were accompanied by the worst D.J. ever in my honest opinion. After they had (thankfully) concluded around 11.15pm we were then kept awake (even with the balcony door closed) by the noise emanating from the Rainbow pub across the road from the hotel until 1.30am. No escape! Worst of all, poolside, during the day, all day, every day from 9am (gets quieter around 5pm for a while) guests can't escape the constant same tempo, repetitive, techno dirges, not even suitable to be labelled 'muzak'. All of this at intrusive and unnecessary volume levels. It's not 'hip' music, it's ???naff??? and sounds like some musically deluded youth has put it together on a laptop in their bedroom. Actually, the lift music is better, that???s how bad the poolside stuff is. Whoever is responsible for choosing this 'background' (which it certainly isn't) rubbish is not doing his or her employers any favours i.e, how to turn guests OFF the hotel. How to lose future business. You play to your audience???s tastes, not your own! Especially when your audience is of such a huge age-range. Hoping for a pleasant time poolside or on your balcony? Forget it unless you've got very good earplugs even after closing the balcony door. So, a retreat to the beach is the only solution. Our lasting impression of the Electra Palace will always be of loud, highly intrusive, repetitive techno boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom ??? . That, for us, is a great shame as the lady lounge singer and lady percussionist performing in the evening in the lobby are excellent, act professional, sound professional and pleasantly deliver a mixed repertoire which actually played to the age-range audience to the delight (and relief) of the audience. This was very much appreciated. The Greek Night band and dancers were excellent too; however, the week's other 'entertainers' were nowhere near even a 1-star standard in our opinion. Then, from around 3am and for most of the morning, every morning, we were treated to a constant, piercing serenade by a local and very loud cockerel, perhaps a candidate for a kitchen appearance hopefully? Not exactly inducive to sleep. In conclusion, whilst the Electra Palace is rated at 5 stars by the Greek Tourist Board, in the UK it would probably be rated as a reasonably well-appointed 3-star. Spotlessly clean, it only lacked attention to the finer details that a true 5-star hotel wouldn't dare to miss if it valued its rating. Most of the staff are superb - and it was these caring, polite and friendly persons that 'made' the good parts of our holiday. So, after our experiences at the Electra Palace, would we (and most probably quite a few others we spoke to and overheard) return here? Until the music situation around the pool is finally realised and addressed (other reviewers have commented previously about this) then unfortunately not - which is a great shame. Surely, the Hotel???s management should be taking action to resolve this obvious issue here. A total urgent restructuring and upgrading of the entertainment wouldn???t go amiss. It is a cardinal sin not to pay attention to your guest???s comments and remember that failure ???to prepare??? is to prepare to fail!
