This was our first time staying at Constance Moofushi Resort, but now we can confidently tell all our friends that this beautiful Moofushi island is our second home in the Maldives. We will definitely come back again. (^_^)
One tip for an unforgettable vacation in Moofushi: ENJOY!
Enjoy as many events as you can!
Enjoy talking to everyone you meet!
Enjoy lunch at Totem Bar!
Enjoy the special dinner at Alizee!
Enjoy the crystal clear water surrounding you!
Enjoy the clear sky and stars every night!
And don’t hesitate to ask if you need anything!
During the research stage, I always assess the authenticity of the reviews about Moofushi. I wondered why so many guests choose to return repeatedly. After a 7-night stay, I can confirm that all the positive reviews are accurate. The true gem of this island is its people, including all the members of the Moofushi family and its guests. As Elena, the Marine Biologist, said, “We come as friends, we leave as family.”
Stay Period:
02 June 2024 - 09 June 2024, 7 nights
Villa Type:
Beach Villa, No. 21
Weather:
I think this is the most important part to know during the low season. We were so lucky; all 7 days were sunny with light clouds, hot, and no rain, except for one very short rain at midnight. On two days, the current was a bit strong due to windy weather, but we could still enjoy snorkeling and playing stand-up paddle board at the house reef. For reference, there was a very strong storm that hit Moofushi island in May before we arrived. Some of the villas, especially the Senior Water Villa, had varying levels of damage after the storm. Fortunately, the team relocated the affected guests to other villas, and no guests were injured. Since we can’t control the weather, there’s no need to worry too much about this factor.
Room:
We tried the water villa with a pool at another resort last year. This time, we opted for a Beach Villa, and we made the right choice.
You may think that the Beach Villa in Moofushi is small and outdated if you only see the photos and video reviews online, as I did. But once I opened the door, wow, it was spacious and bigger than I thought. The furniture is simple but sufficient, with a very high ceiling and a good bed for sleeping. The bathroom and sand garden add value to this villa type. It has a very special curve-shaped bathroom, just like a shell spiral. The shower area is large and spacious enough for a couple to bathe together. The toilet area inside the center of the spiral is cylinder-shaped with a funny wood-made toilet paper stand. The water pressure is good, and no problem on hot water bath.
All Beach Villas in Moofushi have their own private sand garden with a small entrance directly to the main beach. The garden is surrounded by trees for privacy and features a hammock for relaxation. We always left the garden glass door unlocked for easy access in and out of the room and left all the equipment in the garden after snorkeling, making it very convenient. Room #21 faces the west side, allowing us to enjoy sunsets from our garden or take a short walk to the main beach and relax on the beach bed while savoring the sunset with a special drink from Boat House or Totem Bar. At midnight, I often strolled to the beach area with my iPhone to capture photos of the Milky Way. It was incredibly relaxing and beautiful.
Free Activities:
Every day, Moofushi offers various activities for guests to join for free and pass the time. In my opinion, three activities are must-attend events: Sea Life Presentation by Marine Biologist Elena Milanesi, Guided House Reef Snorkeling tour, and Hearts/Back of the House Tour.
Elena, the marine biologist at Moofushi, shares her professional knowledge, teaching us many things about the marine life in the Maldives, especially the whale shark and reef coral. Her presentations inspire us to respect sea life more while snorkeling or participating in excursions. She dedicates her time to educating people on how to protect marine life. We appreciate her hard work, and she will surely be rewarded in the future.
We were fortunate to once again participate in the House Reef Snorkeling tour with Elena. The tour includes two main snorkeling areas in Moofushi. Elena informed us about the marine life we could expect to see in each area, the difficulty levels of each spot, the most efficient swimming path to conserve energy, and the location of the checkpoints. Following her guided tour, we felt more confident diving into the sea for snorkeling every day.
The last one is called the Hearts of the House tour or Back of the House tour. It might be a little confusing to have two different names for this tour, but they are the same thing. This tour allows guests to explore the property, also known as behind the scenes. The Chief Engineer, Ashhok, explained how Moofushi obtains clean drinking water, processes waste daily, and generates power for the entire island. He also led us through the team village, including the warehouse, staff accommodation, laundry room, football playgrounds, and staff gym room. It was fascinating to learn more about their daily operations.
Excursions:
We joined two excursions organized by the BlueTribe Dive Centre: Dolphin Adventure and Snorkeling Extravaganza.
The Dolphin Adventure is one of the excursions included in the package for free. We were lucky to see many dolphins and a stunning sunset during the tour.
For the Snorkeling Extravaganza, we highly recommend everyone to join, even though there is a fee. The tour visits two snorkeling points where you can see many fish, beautiful coral, and especially sea turtles. The snorkeling experience at these points is much better than at the house reef, and you can wear a life jacket to enjoy it if you are not a good swimmer. We believe it is a must-join excursion at Constance Moofushi.
Food:
The main restaurant, Manta Restaurant, serves all meals daily in buffet style. We always enjoyed breakfast and dinner here. Every night features different themed menus at Manta Restaurant, with the seafood night being our favorite. Of course, the special dinner at Alizee Restaurant was the best dining experience of the whole trip.
Most of the time, we spent our lunch hour at Totem Bar. It has a Western style with an à la carte menu, offering a variety of delicious choices. What we love most about this place is that there is no dress code. Imagine this: after two hours of house reef snorkeling in the morning, a quick wash near the swimming pool, grabbing a beach towel, wrapping it around you, finding a seat at Totem Bar, sitting in front of the beach, and enjoying your lunch with this beautiful view. Once you’re done, you can simply lay down on the beach bed nearby for a rest. After sunbathing, you can jump back into the water again and again, feeling so relaxed. Throughout the day, you don’t need to return to your room for bathing and changing clothes; you can enjoy the sun and the beautiful scenery all day long.
Drone Rules:
This is the worst part of Constance Moofushi. They don’t provide clear instructions about drone rules on their website; you have to inquire via email. Guests are permitted to use drones in designated areas but must inform the front desk before flying. It is confusing… why not clearly state whether drone usage is allowed or prohibited?
Actually, I brought my drone with me on the trip. After the first night’s stay, I decided not to fly my drone on this calm and quiet island. The footage would not capture the beauty of this island, as the noise from the drone would ruin the ambiance. One morning, I heard a drone flying over my villa room while I was bathing in the open-air bathroom. Another day, as we were lying on the beach waiting for the sunset, we heard a drone flying nearby, which was quite annoying.
Special Events:
On June 6, 2024, the Staff Volleyball Final Match took place inside the team village, and we were fortunate to be spectators of the F&B team. We thoroughly enjoyed the moment and were delighted that the F&B team emerged as the winners. We continue to show our support for the F&B team even now. (^_^)
June 8, 2024, marked World Ocean Day. We were fortunate to attend and participate in this special event. We assisted in creating a sand sculpture of a whale shark and had the pleasure of meeting Sony, a kind lady from the back office. Additionally, we took part in planting coral on a metal frame.
Final Words:
As Manjoola, the Executive Assistant Manager, mentioned, all the team members sacrifice their family time to help us create an unforgettable holiday. It is important to show them respect, treat them like our own family, and remember that they are assisting us in having the best experience in Moofushi.
Some Words for My Family:
Manjoola, thank you for your efforts in managing the Constance Moofushi resort with such a positive vibe. We enjoy talking to you because you are friendly and always willing to share things with us. Your approach is different from typical management; we often see you around the resort, interacting with guests and overseeing the reconstruction progress. At times, you seem like a moving CCTV, monitoring everything happening in the resort. ^o^
Hertha (Kong Kong) – You were the first person we met in Moofushi. Thank you for your detailed welcome guidelines; they were very useful to us. We apologize for not taking any photos with you. We know that you are undergoing the diving master course during our stay. We hope you pass all the tests and become our diving coach in the future.
Elena – We are happy to have met you during this holiday. You have taught us a lot about marine life in the Maldives, especially the Whale Shark, guided us in snorkeling at the house reef, and organized special events for World Ocean Day. All these memories are valuable to us. Your kindness is truly appreciated, and we believe all the guests will be grateful for your efforts.
Fareed, thank you for making our room super clean and tidy every day. You have a warm family in the Maldives. You work so hard; don’t worry, you can provide your children with a good education in Sri Lanka in the near future.
Saif, you are the funniest and most talkative friend we met in Moofushi. We always looked forward to seeing you every day at Manta Restaurant. Your ability to speak many languages and make us laugh is amazing. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and family photos with us. 감사합니다, ありがとう, 唔該晒 (^_^)v
Sam, you are the one we must thank. Thank you for inviting us to join the in-house volleyball match and giving us a chance to be part of the Moofushi family. Even though we are back to reality, you still care about us and text us to ask about our well-being. You are a kind person, and we hope you pass all the tests and get the promotion.
Luthi, you work so hard. We have seen you many times at Manta Restaurant and Totem Bar. You know everything about the resort and can answer any questions instantly. You also explained to us why the seaplanes do not park at the jetty in the early morning, showing us how Moofushi takes care of its guests.
Ritty, thank you for your professional service at Alizee Restaurant. You are a professional photographer; thanks for sharing your photos and helping us capture the best moments. Remember, I am a good husband! (^^)
Ashhok, you are our guide for the Heart of the House Tour. Your expertise in all technical aspects is commendable. Despite not being very talkative, you made a great effort to explain all the details to us. Thank you!
Sony, it was a pleasant surprise to meet you at the Whale Shark Sand Sculpture event on World Ocean Day. You are a delightful girl and a great listener. We appreciated your willingness to listen to our experiences in Moofushi on that hot sunny day. Hopefully, we will see you someday at the Frozen area in HK Disneyland.
Shammu, hey boy, you are a very good football player. You will be the ace of the F&B team. You remind us of our teenage years. Your positive thinking and passion for your work will pave the way for a successful career. Next time, let us visit your house in Himandhoo by your own boat. (^o^)
Madhi & Kuber, thank you for serving us at Alizee Restaurant & Totem Bar. Kuber, we will miss your Friday show; it was really entertaining!
Nizz, you are a funny guy who always takes funny pictures that make us laugh. We will miss you!
