A serene resort selling some of the best beaches in Mauritius
Grand Baie sits near the far northern edge of Mauritius’ a quiet seaside hamlet that stands just before the shoreline transforms into a rugged sweep of cliffs, coves, and open ocean. Moving inland from the main resort area, wide stretches of sugarcane give way to peaceful rural scenery.
Luxury holidays in Grand Baie are peaceful and restorative, giving you the calm atmosphere many visitors seek when travelling to Mauritius. Thanks to the area’s gently folding shoreline, several hotels here benefit from more than one beach, each tucked between clusters of banyan trees and swaying coconut palms an ideal tropical scene. The activities reflect the region’s unhurried island pace, with opportunities for fishing, scuba diving, and glass-bottom boat outings all close at hand.
When you book your luxury escape to Grand Baie with Sovereign, we’ll help you find a hotel that suits your tastes and desires perfectly. Our chosen property is a standout option for couples who dream of complete serenity. Think leisurely tandem rides through the village, calming duo massages beside the water, relaxed in-room breakfasts served whenever you wish, surprise aperitifs, and intimate candlelit dinners beneath the stars every experience tailored to create lasting memories.
All rooms offer sweeping sea views, gazing out toward distant islets and the clear turquoise lagoon. The décor combines airy modern styling with authentic Mauritian details stonework, timber, and thatched roofs enhanced by elegant sepia illustrations inspired by the legendary lovers Paul and Virginie. Mauritius is a year-round destination, with summer and winter months offering something different. The summer months, from October through to April, are perfect for beach lovers - days are long and temperatures are in the high 20s. There is the odd chance of a cyclone in the south of the island, though. The winter months (during the UK summer) are a little cooler, in the early 20s, so are ideal for hiking and exploring. If you’re planning on diving, the summer months are your best bet – the waters are warmer and (usually) calmer, and there’s more sea life around.
Visas are not required for Mauritius. You will receive a stamp in your passport valid for 60 days.
Tipping in Mauritius is appreciated, but not expected. In restaurants you can leave the small change or round the bill up if you received excellent service. Ensure you give your tip directly to the person whom you wish to receive it.
