Lopesan Villa del Conde Resort & Thalasso

Travelling with a baby, we wanted a fancier hotel where we wouldn't have to worry about too many things, and this is exactly what we got in Lopesan Villa del Conde. The hotel is well located on the promenade/boulevard overlooking the ocean, so we were either sunbathing inside, or going for a walk on the promenade. Unfortunately a couple of the days were also quite windy, but I suppose this is normal for the season and the hotel's location. We are quite satisfied with the customer service and responsiveness. The first day of our stay, there were IT issues with the key cards not being able to open our room, so every time we had to go back, we had to get someone from the staff to help us. A bit annoying, but we were understandable. And on the second day, without expecting it, we got a compensation for these issues in the form of a free lunch buffet for the rest of our stay. This, in addition to the already included morning buffet, made our food planning a lot easier. The reviews here usually point out two general negative points. Some say that there are usually too many people at the morning buffet which creates long queues. The morning buffet is open 7.30 to 10.00, and when we were going there every day between 8.00-8.30 we did not experience any wait time. Another negative point for some people is the noise from the evening entertainment. There is usually a musical band or a performance (circus, dancing, etc.) from 20.00 to 22.30 at the main square of the hotel, and while we asked for a quiet room due to the baby, we could still hear it. But the windows isolation is so good, that the sound was really muffled, and after a tiresome day of getting sunbaked and tending to a baby, it was no issue at all for us. There are in total 6 different pools, one of them supposedly for kids/babies. While the water was not exactly freezing (apart from the pool with salt water, which I believe is by design), I wouldn't really call the baby pool's water "heated". We tried it the first day, and the rest of the days we stayed at the main pool with the artificial sandy beach. One of the last days, we went for a walk to Lopesan Costa Meloneras to compare the outdoor facilities in the case of a potential return to Gran Canaria (we usually prefer travelling to new destinations, and not repeating the same place too often). And the main difference was definitely the size of the pools. The Costa Meloneras had a couple of a lot bigger pools than what Villa Del Conde has, so if you are looking for a place for longer swims, then I would probably recommend Costa Meloneras. While we had a great stay and experience at Villa Del Conde, unfortunately the size of the pools was a bit dissatisfying. Price wise, at the time of booking the Lopesan Baobab was twice the price, so we didn't even consider it. Nevertheless, we went for a walk to also check it out, and woah, the interior design is definitely justifying the price. But if going back and Villa del Conde and Costa Meloneras are again similar booking prices, then probably we would pick the one we didn't stay in, just to try something different.

This was our tenth visit to this fabulous hotel. The architectural design of the hotel is stunning. All staff are always helpful and courteous. The buffet restaurant offers a wide variety of tasty dishes. Bedrooms are spacious, well equipped and spotlessly clean. There is an interesting selection of different activities. My husband enjoyed tennis and I enjoyed a full body workout. Evening entertainment is very professional and varied. We particularly liked Bob Gorman's Blues Band. We are very much looking forward to our next visit to the Villa Del Conde.

This hotel is not as good as it was. The evening entertainment was fantastic but this time was very poor. Food is still excellent and rooms spacious and clean. Serious problems with the security of charging things to your room account. No checks are made, be wary of depositing money on your room account and check your final bill carefully
