Thought this would be a lovely hotel and a great place to relax and be spoilt after a very stressful time. Unfortunately this was not the case. The front of house staff were not interested and rather off hand from start to finish. It was a late night arrival due to flight times. We were not taken to our rooms and there was a mix up over when we would get something to eat. The room being a superior room with a pool view was very spacious with a huge bathroom. However the bed had a mattress topper and was very soft so sleep was difficult. We also had to ask for coffee, milk etcThe lounge bar was only open until 12 with no cocktails after 11.30. A couple of the staff were ok but some were offhand and most of the time you had to go to the bar to get attention. We were half board and the food is not good at all. There was a lot of queueing before getting service. Coffee was provided in the morning to your table but on several occasions we had to wait for this for over 15 minutes and one time it was more than half an hour. The staff on the whole were disinterested.whilst there was a wide choice for breakfast we generally stuck to fruit and toast as a lot of the hot food was not hot and the cold food often had flies on and looked unappealing. Toast had to be put through the toaster at least 3 times to actually toast and much of the fruit, pears, peaches, mandarins and pineapple were out of tins rather than fresh. The one good thing was the fresh fruit juice. Evening time the meals were generally cold slop and again very unappealing. A lot of the hot food was either cold or slightly warm. Water was available but wasE??2.50 for a 50cl bottle. After a few days we just went to town for our evening meal. Plenty of restaurants with great food, great surroundings and attentive staff. The salt water pool was nice and there was plenty of room to sit round. We did try the spa experience and my friend had a facial. These were excellent and so were the staff. The hotel already seems to be getting tired considering how new it is. It has no atmosphere and is very clinical. On the whole the staff are detached and not customer friendly. It appears that it has been built to fit as many people as possible without having sufficient services or staff to provide the service you would expect, especially considering the cost of the hotel and the fact that this was in fact a quiet period.Very unsatisfied and definitely not 5 star

Great hotel in a perfect location for us. Staff were brilliant and on hand immediately. Only downside for us was the soup in The Larder. Definitely should hire a soup chef. I???m sure as soup being an appetiser of sorts, it needs to at least smell nice. Well, in some instances I???ve smelt better dishwater. Get it sorted. The rest of the food was great, something for everyone. We could not get a late check out as we had a 9pm flight home. We had to a courtesy room, which is a shower room we had for 30 minutes. Not a problem, but you neede a shower after leaving it. Get some air con fitted.
