Paradisus by Meliá Salinas Lanzarote

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful week stay at the Paradisus resort where we were celebrating our anniversary. From the moment you arrive, you are made to feel very welcome and the staff truly are fantastic in every way. Nothing is too much trouble for them, and they always greet you with smiles, jokes and lovely conversation. We booked a Reserve Junior Suite and stayed in room 001. This was fantastic, as due to its corner location it was absolutely enormous, and sported a double balcony (something that very few rooms in the entire resort have). It also had unobstructed views of the beach which can be quickly accessed through the fitness centre which sits on the basement level (which has access nearby to the room). It sported an enormous bed (bigger than a super king) and a huge bath as well. The room comes with lots of lovely extras - full use of mini bar included that's restocked every day, safe, air con, good quality shampoo and conditioner etc., as well as some nice touches like bath salts and toothbrushes. The whole week was exactly what my wife and I needed - rest, relaxation and quiet. The Reserve areas really give you that extra bit of calm and quiet, with fewer people and dedicated areas just for you. My wife and I thought the Reserve booking was really worth it in this regard. A Reserve room also comes with included excursions outside the resort (however 3 of the 5 will require you to hire as car to attend them). One of the remaining two excursions is the El Grifo winery tour, which (thanks to Kelly's wonderful efforts) my wife and I attended. I would really recommend this tour - you get transported there and back, with amazing history of wine and the island given by the guide even before you get to the winery (you will learn so much about Lanzarote architecture, geography and history). The winery is lovely, with amazing guides there (Charlie was superb with her knowledge of what makes Lanzarote so unique, and how vines are grown/cultivated) and the wine tasting was superb! We only wish we bought more bottles whilst we were there (as we've already drank the few we bought). Also the winery has all their smaller batch wines to sample and purchase too (that you can't purchase anywhere else, like duty free etc.). The El Grifo wine is really superb! Anyway this included excursion is really worth while - you see more of the island and learn a lot. A fantastic few hours. It only occurs on Wednesdays though, so book asap! Paradisus also hosts other wine tasting events too at the resort (for everyone, not just Reserve guests) - the one on Fridays (held in the Samira restaurant) was terrific - hosted by a real sommelier with real knowledge of how to appreciate wine. I would like to take a minute to say how wonderful Kelly was - she organised so much for us during our entire stay, and staying in touch with WhatsApp to give us updates/see how we were. She was the reason we managed to get on the fully booked some tour, and also took the time to make sure we could get couples massages together, and fit in all the other spa bookings and restaurant arrangements for us. She really was fantastic - we couldn't praise her enough. Paula was also wonderful - a delight to see at breakfast and she always made us smile each day. We made full use of the spa services whilst we were there, and we can really recommend the deep tissue hour long massage (absolutely terrific - the hot towels during the massage to keep heat in the muscles were brilliant). I would recommend booking in advance though, as you get a little discount (€90 hour long massage costs you €70), but mainly it's to ensure you get a place booked as the spa massage schedule can fill up quickly. Kelly kept us right though! We also booked a late checkout for our last day, which was really worth it. Checkout is normally midday, but late checkout is 4pm, allowing you to have lunch and enjoy your afternoon/have a shower before leaving etc. It cost €40 and was really worth it if you've got a later return flight. One point to make (that had nothing to do with whether you should stay there or not) is that my wife and I would have liked to have seen some recycling bins for us to deposit the plethora of cans, plastic water bottles, glass bottles etc. that come from the use of our mini bar etc. To our knowledge there don't appear to be any in the resort, so you feel a little guilty just putting so much into the waste bins. It would be nice to see these sort of bins in a couple of locations, as we would have made the effort to use them. My wife and I had an amazing week, and we left feeling great. This is the greatest hotel we have ever visited. From the rooms, the service, food, activities and the entertainment team everything has been truly amazing. Thank you Ramòn, Armando, Victor, Soraya and Raquel for all the help and kindness.

The entertainment and activities were very well set up having good thought and consideration which had gone into. With the stretching activity being in a nice location, with good quality equipment Also the entertainment department were very nice and lovely people who made u feel welcome.
