Spring Arona Gran Hotel

Stepping into the Arona Gran is the perfect combination of impressive monolithic grandeur and pure luxury whilst still maintaining an air of comfortable home-away-from-home familiarity. My second trip, both times with family, I was pleased to see the familiar faces, traditions and standards again. The hotel is impeccably clean, our room comfortable, the view, whilst ever changing with beautiful sunrises and sunsets, as always, enchanting. I have of course come home two kilograms heavier than I arrived after ten days of the extensive buffet. I don???t know what I will do without the skilled egg chefs at the grill station and 7 varieties of sausage for breakfast or the amazing range of fresh caught fish, the trays of croquettes and pans of paella for my multiple course dinner each night. A personal favourite is Gala night on Wednesdays, the traditional live band, the individual roses and biggest seafood and sushi counter I???ve ever encountered. I make sure to make use of the gym, it???s got amazing equipment, looks out over the harbour so I can keep an eye on the goings on of the Fred Olsen and Armas boats. The pools are all perfection, with plenty of beds available. However watch out for the beds next to the jet pool, you can sometimes be in the splash zone, if you???re looking for that kind of thing! One of the highlights of this trip was the entertainment team, Virginia and George. They were warm, friendly, energetic and provided a real array of activities. Seeing my mum dance to mambo number 5 in aqua dance and my sister push about a foam dumbell under the water in aqua gym will stay with me forever. I also very much approve of Virginia???s sangria recipe in the sangria demonstration, very yummy! The rest of the evening entertainment, whilst not for me, is loved by many of the guests in the hotel, and I did enjoy a little acrobatics on my first night and the queen experience who play all their own instruments. Los Christianos is just a stones throw away, and my sister and I did enjoy a few cocktails and beers there, and a little stand up paddle boarding in the bay. I only fell in once, promise! All in all it was a great experience and has been the place that amazing memories with my family have been made that I will cherish forever. Hopefully see you again soon Arona Gran, once I???ve run off those extra kilograms!!

Overall this is a lovely hotel, alot of older people stay here which suited us as the environment was relaxed. Cleanliness was outstanding and some of the staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for you. Food was ok, lots of options but repetitive and if you asked for things different to what they cooked ie bacon crispy or eggs flipped a couple of them reacted like you were asking for too much and acted in my opinion quite rude. Loved that you could fill up a coffee pot and milk jug to take to the table rather than keep going to the machine for one cups. Lots of available tables regardless of what time you went to eat, only a few outside which meant you had to time it perfectly to get a table and watch the sunset. No one expected tips even left money on the side for the maid in the room and she didn't take it. Lots of sun beds however they are close together and people definitely laid towels down then disappeared so beds were reserved for them later. Water machine in the corridor was brilliant and always available for hot, cold and normal temp; to fill up bottles and kettles which are in the room and replenished daily. Great way to save on plastic. There is a Supermarket opposite and has everything extra you may need. An Iceland and Morrisons shop next door for any English items you need. Beautiful walks along the sea front, lots of restaurants and bars. All very welcoming and not overly expensive.
