Discover Ras Al Khaimah

Discover Ras Al Khaimah

Ras Al Khaimah, often known as RAK, is the lesser-known hidden gem of the UAE that’s just a 45 minute drive from Dubai International Airport. It was the first city in the world to receive the Safeguard Assurance label, which recognises heightened safety and hygiene protocols and standards.

What you probably don’t know is that RAK is the epicentre of all inclusive luxury accommodation in the UAE, making it an affordable alternative to swanky Dubai. Stay in affordable resorts with enormous suites and enjoy fine dining, impeccable service and private beaches.

Ras Al Khaimah holds its own philosophy of RAKashida. Just like the ‘kashida’ in Arabic calligraphy, which is the line that connects letters to form a word, RAK links the natural elements of the sea, desert and the mountains for uniquely personalised experiences.

With almost 40 miles of white sands stretching along the turquoise waters of the Arabian Gulf, RAK is an idyllic place to get your winter sun as you enjoy watersports and chilled-out trendy beachside cafés. Like Abu Dhabi, you’ll find authentic culture in the old city’s souks and at a fascinating pearl farm. There are also championship golf courses, heritage museums, beautiful mosques and an 18th century hilltop fortress, Dhayah Fort, to discover.

Get the best of both worlds with a combined stay at Ritz-Carlton’s two RAK properties - one is on Al Hamra Beach, while the other is within the terracotta dunes of Al Wadi Desert where you can go horseback riding or learn more about the Bedouin culture.

Ras Al Khaimah is also big on outdoor adventure, and you’ll be able to enjoy plenty of hiking and mountain biking in the Hajar mountain range with its sweeping views. It’s 10°C cooler in the mountains, and you can enjoy a picnic on an observation deck or take the entire family on a fun survival experience at the Bear Grylls Explorers Camp.

You might like to witness the local camel racing traditions, or you can kayak through salt flats and discover pink flamingos en route.

Alternatively, enjoy the seven zipline Sky Tour, or the Jais Sky Maze, the UAE's highest rope course. You’ll also find loads of health and wellness in Ras Al Khaimah, whether that’s having a yoga class in the mountains or an indulgent spa day.
