You’ll tick off two of the prettiest cities in Croatia on this trip. Dubrovnik piles Venetian chapels and maritime museums into a walled old quarter, while Split serves up the biggest living palace complex in the world. It's not all about city sightseeing, though – you'll also have plenty of time to enjoy Croatia's beautiful beaches and islands.
On arrival in Dubrovnik, a private transfer will whisk you to your chosen hotel.
Dubrovnik is one of the most walkable cities in Europe, thanks to the car-free Old Town. The streets are time-polished marble and the buildings are grand, strung along narrow alleyways and steep staircases. Stradun slices the city in two – a wide boulevard that sweeps from 16th-century Pile Gate to the old port. Whip around the towering Walls of Dubrovnik, too. From up there, you can see backstreet boutiques, secreted-away cliffside bars and castle vistas (literally) straight out of Game of Thrones.
You’ve got three nights here, so we also recommend checking out day trips to the Elaphiti Islands, and spending some time on the pretty pebbled beaches along the Dubrovnik Riviera.
After breakfast in Dubrovnik, you'll pick up your hire car and set off north to Split.
The toll road takes around three hours, but you can spin it out by stopping by the little walled villages, Venetian villa-museums, wineries, or mountainous national parks you pass along the way. There's also a coastal road; the drive takes longer but allows you to pit-stop at pretty beaches and seaside towns.
Don’t fancy the drive? We’ll arrange a private transfer instead.
Spend time settling in to your characterful hotel before exploring Split. Like Dubrovnik, Split stars a walled historical quarter – only here it’s a sprawling palace complex with cafés, churches and catacombs.
The harbour deals out every flavour of boat trip, from ferries to the beach-lined island of Brac, to private yachts that set course along the Dalmatian Coast (if you’re interested, we can arrange a week-long charter for you).
After one last morning in the sunshine, drive to Split Airport for your flight home.
