Grecotel Cape Sounio Resort is located in Sounion, along Greece’s Athenian Riviera. It’s perched on a luscious green hillside overlooking the Aegean Sea, with tropical gardens ideal for those wanting to simply relax and unwind. Families will love the three children’s clubs, as well as a service for babies and lots of activities for everyone. Couples can enjoy excellent cuisine, romantic champagne cruises by sunset, and mountain biking through the surrounding landscapes.

Take in the views of the iconic Temple of Poseidon as you relax with a massage in the spa, or enjoy a yoga class in the wellness centre. When it comes to dining there are some fantastic options, from Greeks classics like mezze platters and moussaka to fine dining with French influences and an Asian inspired restaurants.

The large seawater swimming pool overlooks the glittering bay below, as well as offering views of the Temple of Poseidon. It’s surrounded by loungers, terraces and the hotel’s gardens. There is also a separate children’s swimming pool.

First, this is a BEAUTIFUL place and I mostly felt at home here. We had a wonderful view (deluxe seaview) of the temple and sea to wake up to daily. The food was almost always wonderful, and was so good I even ate things I never eat (the strawberry panna cotta and the fresh tomatoes changed my life). The Meltemi were strong and early this year, but it didn't spoil our stay. The trees swaying in the wind and the ocean soothed away the stress from work. The salt pool is so refreshing and kept at a good natural temperature (it's supposed to refresh you) unlike many hotels too-warm pools (who wants to feel like they're taking a bath on a hot day?). The service staff make you feel like you are the center of the universe. Especially the buffet restaurant manager, Agapi, Alexandros, Nudley (spelling?), Ionianna (spelling?), the waitress from Lavrio with braces and most of the many Marias. My only complaints are: 1)The doors are pretty hard to use. No one should need a tutorial for a door. It is a safety-hazard as it is hard to get out quickly as well. I understand this might have something to do with the open-concept nature of the doors, but if not they really need to change the mechanism. 2) The safe was also finicky and we needed to call for help despite being able to read the instructions in two of the several languages provided through the QR code. Also, why force me to use the phone? Just include directions on the device through a sticker if you don't want to waste paper. 3) For ethical reasons I am against using Meta products and though I know What's App (owned by Meta) is extremely popular in some countries, it should be something never forced upon guests. I feel like I missed out on some great things (lawn yoga in the morning, maps, etc.) simply because I didn't want to install that App on my phone. What if I was elderly (and not as into tech), lost my phone, or what if I was simply a Luddite? many understandably want to disconnect on a vacation, not be tethered to phones. Time to get a better way of communicating events etc. like a simple bulletin board.
