Emelisse was the most lovely hotel. The rooms were very large. We were in a room with an ocean view and it was stunning. There is a large pool with many chairs surrounding and a bar on location for drinks (drinks not included in hotel price). A short walk down from the pool is a rocky "beach" where you are able to go swimming in the ocean. We did not go to the actual beach they had on site, but the rocky swimming area was just lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our swimming from this location.
Breakfast was delicious every morning. There were many choices, including eggs, meat, fruit, yogurt, various cold meats and cheeses, along with several bread choices and homemade cakes, croissants, etc.
The staff was very helpful and were able to answer all of our questions.
Another huge plus is the hotel has two cars available to rent for the day. One is automatic and one is manual. The cost when we were there in July of 2019 was 60euro for the day and included insurance coverage.
If you stay at this hotel, I would say going to Myrtos beach is a must do. It is about a 35 minute drive from the hotel and the most stunning beach I have ever visited.
There is a restaurant on site available for lunch/dinner, and the hotel is a ten minute walk or shuttle ride from local village Fiskardo which has many other dining options.
As a tip - if you go into Fiskardo we would recommend stopping by a grocery store and picking up some bottles of water. Bottles of water at the grocery are 0.30 cents whereas the hotel will charge you 1 euro per water. Tap water is not recommended for drinking, so bottled water is a must.
If you fly into Kefalonia be prepared for a long and winding drive from the airport. Our transport was approx. 1 hour and 10 minutes. If you experience car sickness, come prepared with medication/peppermints/etc as this is not an easy trip.
We did book through a travel agency, and had pre-paid for transfers up front, and at three separate occasions during our time at the hotel we were told we needed to pay for transfers. When we replied we had prepaid they were always able to find this was accurate, it was more of an annoyance having to deal with this multiple times.

What a beautiful hotel. We arrived on the 4th June to this stunning Island just in time for the good weather we were told! The drive to the hotel from the airport is about an hour on very windy roads with beautiful scenery (we had a quick photo stop at the famous Myrtos beach)
We were greeted by Jackos from our taxi in his buggy to take us through to the reception. In reception the lovely Irene welcomed us with some much needed cold cucumber water and cold towels. After a quick introduction we were shown to our room. Our room was perfectly situated right near to the main reception in a separate building. I booked a partial sea view but we had a lovely balcony with a perfect view of the sea. Partial sea view to me is bending your neck to see it! Not here!
Our room was spacious with plenty of hanging and drawer space and a beautiful massive shower. Plenty of toiletries and a big comfy bed.
In the reception area they have a pool table and bar where we would have late drinks sometimes. They have two pool areas one of which is adults only and very quiet. The other is a much bigger pool with the main bar and restaurant, where we spent most of our time. The drinks service around the pool is hit and miss so dont expect to be waited on all day! There are plenty of loungers and towels are provided by the bar. We ate in the restaurant a few times for lunch and dinner. The portions are big, the wait can sometimes be quite long and there was only one dish I didn't like. The black burger, it just didn't work for me!Everything else was really good. The sommelier Olga was lovely and very knowledgeable and passionate about the wine. Every wine she recommended we loved.
Paris is the happiest waiter I've ever met!! Fantastic lovely guy, a special thank you to him!
The evening entertainment was quite good. The bbq night, Greek night and a live band. All were really good fun and it's a lovely setting in the evening around the pool watching the sunset.
The hotel has it's own boat and we did the day trip, which was well worth the money. A full day on a gorgeous boat with lovely snacks, wine, beer etc stopping at some stunning coves and little beaches. I would highly recommend doing it.
The breakfast was exceptional and such a beautiful setting. Coffee was great and if you read my other reviews you'll know I'm fussy about coffee!
The scrambled eggs were delicious as were all the homemade jams. Breakfast is served until 11am which was perfect for us late risers! The little beach by the hotel is worth a visit and only a short walk away. The water is stunning, really clear but it's very rocky so you may want to get the dive shoes/croc things (not my thing!) to go in. I didn't bother and just fell in and out! Theres a little food place there with both soft drinks and alcohol (little bottles of prosecco too, fantastic!) and basic food like salads, toasted sandwiches, burgers etc. They hire loungers there but the hotel give you beach towels at reception so you can just use those if you don't mind the rocks!
Fiskardo harbour is about a ten/fifteen minute walk but they do a regular shuttle after 6pm until 11pm. You may have to sit on laps on the last one back as it gets quite busy!
My main comment about this entire holiday both in and out of the hotel is the beautiful people. They cannot do enough for you so I would like to say a huge thank you to all of the staff at this wonderful hotel for making it such a warm, friendly, beautiful place.
My only negative comment (which isn't even a bad comment) I would prefer some blackout blinds in the bedroom as it was quite light even with the shutters closed. Other than that there is nothing negative to say about this stunning hotel and Island.
