As a hospitality professional I tend to pay attention to every detail and notice everything. For a hotel that asks for this much per night, I would have expected international brand level (i.e. Six Senses, Four Seasons, Rosewood, Waldorf) kind of services, facilities and efficiency. Don't get me wrong, (most) staff were friendly and accommodating enough, but let's not forget that giving someone a smile and a warm welcome does not equal to exceptional hospitality. I was not briefed upon arrival that one should download the hotel app to control certain functions / order room service etc. I then found out it's only available to iPhones - I have an Android. I was addressed as Ms. and Mr. in several of the hotel's letters - come on, get it right! The rooms are good, not excellent and not worth the price. I found small stains on a couple of towels, the curtain and on walls. Housekeeping was average with not everything being cleared and / or replenished at times. Shower is average - not great pressure. The bed was comfortable, but for a hotel that's trying to be at the top...where is the pillow menu, where were the little chocolates on the pillows at night, small little gestures! Plenty of wardrobe space, but for a hotel that charges this much...where is the service / butler offering to help unpack? There was no ironing board / iron, why? Enjoyed the quality and variety of tea offered, however did not touch the welcome chocolate cake, it was still there 3 days later. Outdoor furniture was nice, clean and comfortable, great sunset views. The airconditioner was a little "challenging" to control - loud at times and noticed dripping. My friend's (other room) mini bar wasn't working and had to call numerous times to get it looked at - it still wasn't done upon check-out (3 days later). Breakfast, decent enough - I'm personally not a breakfast person, but all eggs I've asked for were cooked perfectly. Seemed to be missing regular bread selection for regular toast, never found butter & jam (did not bother asking). A wider variety of hams / charcuterie and cheese may have been nice (you are catering to an international clientele). Asiatique - the hotel's fine dining Asian inspired restaurant was disappointing to say the least. As I live in Asia, my expectations were high and walked out disappointed. None of it was authentic Asian and some of it was way over or under seasoned. It's my mistake though for assuming this would be genuine Asian food. I suggest the hotel to review this dining concept, I'd almost say chefs without a thorough / proper training in Asian cuisine, to not attempt it. The Grill however was lovely, probably the best shrimp Caesar salad I've ever had. My friend's tuna with yuzu was exceptional I was told and the sandwiches / burgers all fantastic. Some of the servers at this grill who also look after pool and beach side service were so lovely and the best at the hotel in my opinion. What was frustrating, during my stay some of the hotel owner's friends from the Middle East had checked in who then closed off restaurants, inconveniencing other guests - why not use one of your empty villas for such private dinners?! A hotel with only 2 dining options, should not be closing restaurants to general guests and if you do do that - write it in the welcome letter, inform your guests in advance! Service in general was on and off throughout my stay, some lovely people that really made the effort, but a few also who didn't even seem "happy" to be there...I get it, it's a job, but do not work in hospitality if you're not passionate about it. The spa is the most expensive spa I've ever experienced and I have been to many (5 star) hotel spas - over US$500 for a 90 minute massage and 60 minute facial is not acceptable! The spa facilities however were lovely, a complete separate pool which I enjoyed. The hotel's 100m infinity pool was impressive and encouraged me to challenge myself to swim laps every day. The beach counter only offered kayaks, SUPs, snorkelling equipment, but for this kind of hotel I would have expected a couple of small sailing boats one can play around with. Also when friend asked where to get something like this arranged it took forever to organise and some of the staff did not seem knowledgeable of what's around the area. Plenty of international hotel staff of which some seemed newish, but get to know what's around and build relationships with local providers. Based on my experience, I would have to be re-assured some changes and improvements to be made in order for me to consider staying here again. It was good, not excellent and for the money you pay, I just would have expected a lot more!

I am actually here now, travel agency owner here on personal vacation. No denying this is a beautiful property, that is why when I came last May I decided I would come here going forward every May and I travel internationally about every two months and stay in luxury properties.Last time I was here, it stole my heart, the staff is still great, that is another reason why I came back was the great staff and service But I definitely noticed some changes and not for the better. For example when I checked in, I had no slippers or robes I had to request them, took a few hours to get okay no problem, but at this caliber that's a basic expectation. In addition, I noticed that people that come in get a day pass and pay $7.50 for a mojito as a guests of the property you're gonna pay double that price on top of service fees etc. Also, a big disappointment was last year they had al l carte breakfast included in your stay. This year was basic buffet. staff told me the buffet doesn't change, so that means if you're here 5 to seven 7 you're gonna eat the same breakfast which is a below standard, atleast mix it up. If I had never been here before, it wouldn't bother me really because I wouldn't know any better, but now I feel like I came back and didn't get some of the things that brought me back for my second time. I can see there's new management, feel is different, last year felt a little bit more hospitalable, if you walk by you they would speak to you and acknowledge you, most times now they just walk by.If you come you won't be disappointed.My review based on being a return guest .
