Barcelo Fuerteventura Royal Level – Adults Only

Really loved the Adults Only aspect of this hotel, Barcelo has several sites which pretty much surrounds the horseshoe bay but the Adult area felt like a little boutique hotel on its own, not joined to the other parts of the sprawling site; own bar, own restaurant, own pool and only 80 steps (I counted!) to our suite which was perfect. Our suite was HUGE, separate bedroom with giant bed and fab pillows which were unbelievably comfortable, huge TV* on the wall with an arm to pull out for watching in bed (if you like one news channel!), large lounge with another giant TV* and a lovely garden with two comfortable chairs, sunbeds and a shower. The bathroom was great with a lovely rainfall shower but one major flaw: there is no toilet brush. *TV - the majority of the resort is English guests but there is NO English channels apart from one news channel, yet there is plenty of German and French (and Spanish, obvs). I know you don't go on holiday to watch TV, but sometimes after dinner it would be nice to retire and watch a movie rather than go to the bar. I would even be happy to pay a little extra to get some English channels, but this is common all over Spain in my experience. The food in the AO buffet section was superb, a great selection and being freshly made and replenished constantly - you can see the chefs chopping and cooking away right there in front of you. Shout out to ALL the fabulous staff in this area particularly Mario who was always polite and funny - just the right amount of service without being obtrusive. The only slightly negative comment is that there is not enough seating areas for just two people who would like a little privacy in the bar area in the evening, there are large sofas but you are always sharing with other people so not ideal. As AI guests, we could dine at other restaurants on the resort so we tried the Mexican which was good, nice atmosphere although the service level was notably different to the Royal Level - not bad as such, but quite rushed. We had pizza at La Perlita which was very good and great service. We had the tasting menu at the Italian La Dolce Vita, service very s-l-o-w considering it is a tasting menu and everything is pre-prepared, food was pretty average, but the fresh Focaccia bread was delicious. We tried Rodizio Brazilian grill where the chefs wonder round with giant skewers of meat and carve it onto your place, the meat was not to my taste at all, very fatty so I did not enjoy at all, but that is just my personal preference. I walked over to the Thalasso Spa and was told I needed a booking to even sit by the pool there, this information should be provided on check in to avoid disappointment as it was my last day so I missed out, but the Royal Level pool was way nicer anyway :) One of the reasons I booked here was proximity to the beach, it's a public beach and it was a massive disappointment because it is manmade - I would not have a problem with a manmade beach except there is a very thin layer of sand on a rock hard surface. There is a beach vollyball court on the beach and you can see the sand inside there is perfect, that is what a beach should look like! The beach sunbeds cost 7 euro pp and were not very comfortable - nothing to do with the hotel but worth considering of you are a beach bunny like me. I ended up being a pool bunny instead which was fine as all drinks and food were on tap. You have food and drink service to your poolside sunbed as well which is the ultimate in laziness and luxury! All in all, a great weeks holiday, very comfortably stay, perfect weather for me (although can be quite windy which was fine by me) but I would not stay in this resort again because of the beach, I will try the other Adults Only Barcelo in Corralejo Bay where I believe the beaches are outstanding. I hope they can match the level of service of the AO Royal Level here.

An amazing holiday from start to finish! We stayed in the adults only area of the resort. The cleaners, life guards, entertainment staff (the amazing Dorka!) and chefs were all so friendly and professional. A particularly big thank you to the totally, totally brilliant and friendly restaurant and bar staff at Terra Sana who work tirelessly to ensure the guests are having a great time. The adults only area is spotless with great attention to detail. The hotel app is genius, where you can order drinks/food to be delivered straight to your sun lounger, book spa treatments, gym classes etc. The cocktails were fabulous! More amazing customer service, food and ice creams at the little restaurant La Perlita. We used the gym which was small but fairly well equipped, booked some personal training sessions, Paddle courts and spa treatments. Customer service and cleanliness here was also great! So sad to leave this little piece of heaven!! Please feed back to all your staff how happy they made us ❤️❤️
