About the location
Tucked into Majorca’s sheltered northern tip, Puerto Pollensa is a traditional village with a luxury twist. Its sandy caramel shore sits against the backdrop of blue-grey mountains, with a colourful seafront promenade lined with palm trees and beach bars. Seafood lovers, head to the marina – it’s got some of the best fish restaurants on the island, as well as a handful of chilled-out wine bars. Look out for local specialties like salted cod, squid and oysters – fresh from the net to your plate. If you’re up for a change of pace, Puerto Pollensa’s old town (Pollensa) is around a 15-minute drive away, and is home to a cluster of narrow streets, galleries and a café-lined square. It’s the ideal spot for a day of sightseeing, people watching and climbing the famous Calvario steps for views across Puerto Pollensa.

My husband and I stayed at Hotel Miramar from 1st September for 10 nights. We had booked a year in advance as I had wanted to go here for years and was aware that it is very popular. Check in was the best we have ever encountered as we were lone arrivals and instead of all the usual form filling palaver, we handed over our passports and were whisked off to our beautiful room on the top floor. I had asked for a quiet room and our room was quiet for our entire stay.
The Miramar is in an enviable position in Puerto Pollensa as it is central to everything and has fantastic views. Especially across the harbour to the place where 'The Night Manager' was filmed. It has an air of sophistication and is very clean and comfortable. We were pleased to have a fridge to use in our room free of charge.
On our first evening we ate in the hotel restaurant (I had booked in advance by email). It was an amazing meal with wonderful service and although we did once venture out to a pizza restaurant in the square, we actually ate in the hotel restaurant for nine of our 10 nights.
The restaurant manager is Miquel who could quite easily run any top London hotel restaurant as he is professional to the core. The food is delicious and we had many excellent dishes especially the steaks , soups and pasta dishes. Breakfast was very enjoyable. This is a smaller hotel and the buffet is an appropriate size but everything sent from the kitchen is properly cooked and well presented.
All staff were helpful, polite and professional .
We went to nearby Pollensa with the 365 steps and beautiful views ( a short bus ride). We also went twice to Formentera, by bus and also by boat. It is a wonderful place to swim and very pretty. Alcudia (Old Town) was another lovely place to visit.
This holiday was one of the happiest we have ever had and we loved The Miramar.
Thank you so much to all staff, especially the chefs and Miquel and Simona.
You made our stay a pleasure and I am hoping we will be back next year.
