About the location
Tucked into Majorca’s sheltered northern tip, Puerto Pollensa is a traditional village with a luxury twist. Its sandy caramel shore sits against the backdrop of blue-grey mountains, with a colourful seafront promenade lined with palm trees and beach bars. Seafood lovers, head to the marina – it’s got some of the best fish restaurants on the island, as well as a handful of chilled-out wine bars. Look out for local specialties like salted cod, squid and oysters – fresh from the net to your plate. If you’re up for a change of pace, Puerto Pollensa’s old town (Pollensa) is around a 15-minute drive away, and is home to a cluster of narrow streets, galleries and a café-lined square. It’s the ideal spot for a day of sightseeing, people watching and climbing the famous Calvario steps for views across Puerto Pollensa.

We visited the Miramar for the 9th time this year (last 2 weeks in August). My wife and I paid the premium rate for a seaview room with its own patio. On arrival at midnight we were allocated room 161 on the 1st floor of the tower. As it was very late we just got showered and went to bed. When we got up in the morning we opened our balcony doors to see our view prior to going down for breakfast. I must say the views from this premium room were non existent as all we could see was trees and no seaview (pictured of our seaviews attached). In order to get a view of the sea you would require to be 8 feet tall. We were also extremely disappointed with the breakfast as every single morning the hot food was cold to tepid - not good, the only plus point was the coffee at breakfast which was far better than previous visits. Another disappointing issue was the withdrawal of the set menu at night in the restaurant for hotel guests with the a la carte menu somewhat curtailed and the number of tables in the restaurant substantially reduced. We also sensed an uneasy atmosphere within the hotel with numerous staff indicating they were not happy with the recent changes. I would not recommend eating in the bar at lunchtime as the food is less than mediocre, however, the food in the restaurant in the evening is reasonable albeit expensive - there are far better retaurants outwith the hotel and much much cheaper. On the positive side the hotel is always very clean and all staff very helpful. I always recommended this hotel to family and friends but now I am reluctant to do so which is a shame. Finally, if you do decide to book a premium seaview in the Miramar avoid rooms 161 and 162 on the tower as despite what it says when booking there is no seaview.

What a wonderful hotel this is. Everything about it is just great. I love the fact that, as a disabled traveller, it is so easy to cross over the Pine Walk to get to the hotel terrace and beach. The whole Miramar experience is so relaxing. The views from the bedroom across the bay are amazing and it is well-worth booking a sea-view. The breakfasts are lovely with a good choice of hot and cold food. The fresh fruit is particularly good. Do take time in the afternoon to have tea and strawberry gateau on the front porch, people watching. Can't wait to go back!
