About the location
Koh Samui is an old hand when it comes to holidays - it was the go-to island back when Thailand first started making waves on the travel scene. Visitors were originally drawn in by its white-sand beaches, nodding palms and first-rate snorkelling and diving. Nowadays, you can add luxury hotels, gourmet restaurants and slick beach clubs to the mix.
Chaweng is the liveliest resort on the island, with a big helping of restaurants, late-night bars and shops. The beach is one of Koh Samui's best, too. If you prefer things a little quieter, but still want amenities on hand, head a little way down the coast to Lamai. On the north coast, Bophut has a village feel, with lots of small cafés and restaurants (some right on the sandy beach), as well as shops selling handicrafts and local art, while Mae Nam has a huge, palm-edged sandy beach and a peaceful, laid-back feel.

This place was a complete disappointment.
Having returned from Koh Madsum which was amazing despite having 4 stars, we arrived at this 5 star hotel which is more expensive, and found that almost everything was worse which was quite a shock for me and a real let down.
-The room was really basic, I know that for sure are better rooms for a lot more money, but having stayed in a so much better room in the previous hotel that even a had a private pool, being then in a basic hotel room that was more expensive and there was not even a bath tub was a complete downer.
-We found a small rip on the sheets
-The room was on a third floor and there was not even a lift to get there
-The pool closed way too soon
-The pool had hot tubs but were not working
-The beach in front was mediocre with dirty water specially comparing to Koh Madsum hotel with had crystal clear water
-The staff was friendly and tried to help but anything we asked was always a complete confusion where asking something simple as a spoon in the breakfast the staff had always to ask for help to their superior and took ages for a resolve
-Everything was completely overpriced, they gave us a voucher for the spa when we checked in, but with the prices there was completely unusable
-To complete the awful experience, I didn't receive the money that I deposited upon check in. I exchaged e-mails with them and they keep saying they returned the money and they discard any responsability but the fact is that I never received it in my credit card. This inneficiency is absolutely unaceptable for a 5 star hotel and I absolutely do not recommend this hotel

Upon arrival we were greeted by staff with complimentary refreshments and congratulated on our marriage. Our room wasn't ready so we were given access to a master room with shower and lounge to relax in, shower, change etc. When our room was ready they have made swans in the shape of love hearts with rolled towels and sprinkled our bed with rose petals. We were treated like royalty the entire time. By day 2 or 3, most staff knew us by first name. Our room and amenities were always clean and beautiful. They would burn Thai oils in the bathroom so when you return to your room, you were instantly relaxed and reminded of where you were. The spa was magnificent - amazing massages and stunning tranquil setting. Cant wait to get back.
